After a Beluga Whale capture in Russia that occurred in 2013 off the coast of Baydukova Island, 9 Beluga whale carcasses were found washed up on the shore, including this juvenile.
The animals were covered in signs of net entanglement, and it is believed they had died during the capture process. This particular animal was found with a sand-filled sac tied to the tail, in a likely attempt to sink the carcass so the death would never be discovered. However, the bag ripped and most of the sand fell out, causing the animal to wash up on shore. X
